My Favorite Mistake: Kaleo

Events are Either a Blessing or a Lesson in Life

It was a fun, but cold day as being December and everyone excited for winter break. Sluffing class to go with one of my best friends on the football team and an attractive lady that was in college. All the football excitement was gone, but your reputation is still high as it is for a dominate football team. But messing with the wrong people can leave you close to death.
My best friend and I decided to ditch weight training and lunch to have it at the lady’s house. My boy and the girl smoked weed and drank. I was one of the only sober people that hung out with the football team. In the car, talking about how faded we were going to get, while I saw $120 in her purse. Keep in mind, we only knew this girl for less than a month.
We were all in her kitchen, no parents, weed, and liquor on the mineral rock counter that was in the middle of the kitchen, and food we warmed up for not eating lunch at school. Can’t remember the alcohol or bud name, but ate had corn dogs, hot pockets, and orange juice. Talking stories and laughing, was a perfect distraction.
I told my guy what’s up about the money and how her purse is in the car. While I was flirting with her, listening to Pandora. I asked my guy if he could go get my earphones from out the car that was in my pocket. He went to go get the money. It was a perfect plan. He came back in no more than a minute later and said, “I got it,” as in the money.
I spent all the rest of sluffing just hanging out and having a jolly time with the bro. When we were in the house, I asked my boy let me get the cut. He said he didn’t see the money in there and he just got the earphones. I was like, oh alright, that white boy probably got it. When she dropped us off, she snatched my phone and said to give her money back. We were acting dumb like what the hell you talking about? So my guy snatched the phone back and we mobbed into school.
After school, I always go running, so I was up on the track until my phone rang and it was the chick. She was talking about bring my guy with her to go get some “good stuff” that he’d like to smoke. I told her I’ll go and just hit him up later. She was doing her hardest for me to get him to come, but I told her Nah. That’s when I knew something was a little off.
It was me, her cousin Taylor, Kylie (the chick), and this kid I went head up with a week before. With his black eye, I asked him if he won, he just stood there. I asked if we were cool and he shook my hand. We went driving and she took us to this abandoned park somewhere in West Jordan waiting for the dealer. The low riding truck with maroon colors and pretty nice rims pulled up, Kylie, Taylor, and Eddie got out. I told them I’ll post in the car.
I was texting my guy about how I was with Kylie and how she really thought it was the white boy that robbed her. I was behind the driver’s seat in the back of the car when two Mexican guys got out of the track. They looked about 27 years old all mean mugging looking at the car asking “Where he at?”
So I said to myself, “Oh hell nah...” I put my phone in the back of the seat because I didn’t want that get taken. I came out the car steady asking what’s up. They started sweating me, asking where the money at and what I was banging. I said my clique and posted up to fight these two dudes, adrenaline up the ass. I hit the first dude with a jab right in his eye and I was honestly whooping his booty. The other dude clipped me right on my jaw and I only hit him once until them both, caught my slipping on the ice.
I was getting beat up pretty bad. While I was crawling, one of the dudes went to the truck and threw his bud a bud light. He took a sip and said “Ene 14.” And kicked my face. I was yelling effing pussies and b words and just a whole lot. And while I was getting up all sturdy, one last sip from the dudes beer, and WAM! Right to my jaw and I fell down one last time.
They both picked me up and threw me in Kylie’s car. I asked Eddie, the dude I fought the week before if he knew about this, and his face looked like he was scared as hell and said no. His bro was part of the clique so he knew if he knew about it, his ass was wrapped. We stopped at a Texaco right by the park, when the two dudes came back out and pulled me out the car and said “Tell your homie you’re going to pay if I didn’t get the money back.” I was just staring at him; he had a gun in his pants. He told Kylie keep driving and don’t turn around. Right then, I thought I was going get shot.
They just drove off and I used the gas stations phone. Called my lady and she scooped me up. I learned that even your closest friends can be a hidden bite in the ass. I trust no one, not even myself sometimes. Do what YOU got to do and not worry about anyone else. Be a leader not a follower, but a good leader KNOWS how to follow. My friend ended up taking the money and that’s one of the reasons I got trust issues. I got slammed for what he did, but I still had fault in it. That’s my mistake.
